About Costa Rica
Our Pura Vida in Costa Rica
You would think that moving to Costa Rica from Alaska would be a no brainer. Well, the decision wasn’t that easy for Rene and me. After over 22 years in the 49th state, it was our home. However, in 1990 a fishing buddy of mine convinced me to go tarpon fishing in Costa Rica. First, I wasn’t familiar with tarpon and second, I didn’t even know that Costa Rica was in Central America. That trip changed our lives. It doesn’t seem possible that Rene and I have lived here at Lake Arenal for over 30 years.
About Lake Arenal
It’s unbelievable that a lake this beautiful and big (25 miles, or 40.2 kilometers long) is practically unused during April through September: that’s when most days it is as smooth as a mirror. However, December to mid-March, the windsurfers flock to Arenal Lake, but only on the northwest end. It’s smooth and calm at the other end, so a few tour boats can show off our Arenal Volcano.
